So Much News!

Hello everyone!

I have a rug hooking class on Friday, June 5, 9:30-12:30 at Fiber Fusion. Click here to register! Classes Storefront - Fiber Fusion Northwest We’ll cover all the basics, how to calculate how much yarn you need, how to transfer your own designs, how to hem your rug, how to clean and care for hand hooked rugs, and how to hook rugs your grandchildren will fight over!

If you can't make it to the class, come by and see me in my booth Saturday and Sunday!

If you can’t make it up to Monroe in June, I’ll be teaching the same class at the Black Sheep Gathering in Albany, Oregon on June 26, 1:30-4:20. Click here to sign up! https://blacksheepgathering.org/workshops#beginning-rug-hooking

I've got some free download offers going right now. One is a free excerpt from Joy of Hooking (With Yarn!) that shows you how to make our DeLovely Rug Hooking frame. Check it out the free instructions here: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/65v1ziwfe3

Another one that went out today is an excerpt from Breaking the Boundaries featuring the rug hooking artistry of Sharon Johnston, which shows how you can hook a fun Alphabet Blocks design. Click here to download the free excerpt: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/y3xw58ndqt

If you haven't come across Sharon Johnston's amazing work in Breaking the Boundaries, here's just a sample below: Four Seasons. And if you are in the Calgary area, check out her work in The Collector's Gallery of Art.

And for folks with a "fear of dyeing" check out this fun excerpt from Rug Hooker's Guide to the YARNIVERSE! called Overdyeing, Click here for the free download: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/ss7e8lmypq

Have you ever hooked a rug with cotton strips?

I'm on the lookout for rugs hooked with cotton (like your quilting leftovers) to share in my upcoming book, Don't Trash Your Stash, A Quilter's Guide to Rug Hooking. Rug hooking through the centuries has always been about one thing: hook with what you've got! And boy do quilters have leftovers.

Did you know that rugs hooked with cotton are durable and machine-washable? Imagine finishing a quilt project, and looking at that pile of leftovers. Sure, you could make another patchwork quilt, but what if you used those leftovers to make a rug that would match your quilt's colors perfectly?

Hooking with cotton goes hand in hand with hooking with T-shirts. Since Don't Trash Your Stash isn't out yet, why not check out T-Shirt Treasures? That will give you a head start to hook with your cotton strips. I'd love to include your rugs in the new book, so let me know if you have any questions about how to get started.

Everyone who contributes to any of my books always gets a free digital version of the book called a "flipbook." What's a flipbook? It's like an eBook, except you don't read it on a tiny screen, you read it on your computer. Check out this flipbook intro to T-Shirt Treasures: Ebooks have come a long way, but for picture books, I still find them clunky and truncated, with tiny images. With a flipbook, you see both facing pages, you can zoom in to study the details, and print some or all of the book at home. They're also much cheaper than paperbacks plus postage. When you order a flipbook, the link appears instantly in your email.

Whew! That was a lot. I'd love to hear what you're working on these days.

Happy Mother's Day!
