Sheep In Pasture
Difranzia design
Hooked by Bev Wakefield
I am originally a quilter, but a few of my friends are into rug hooking and they invited me to one of their evenings of rug hooking, and after spending one evening with them and seeing all their finished projects I was hooked!
I have been hooking for about two years on and off. My first project was a trivet, my second project was a stool cover and now the "Sheep In Pasture." The pattern for the sheep is a Difranzia Design.
Being a beginner I have realized that there are all kinds of wool and that all wool does not hook the same with one individual cut. Fortunately sheep being wooly, I was able to use some of the wool that I have found through traveling and visiting shops for 100% wool skirts and trousers. The wool in the sky is hand-dyed by Marie Kelly*, a friend of mine who was very generous in helping me out. The rug took me roughly a few months to do. The hardest part was finding all the wool that I needed. Now my rug is displayed on the floor in our family room where we can all enjoy it.
