Susie Wilson raises Border Leicesters, Coopworths, plus a few English Leicesters and Gotland crosses on her farm in Canby, Oregon. Some years ago, she took a beginner rug-hooking class from me at the Black Sheep Gathering. This rug was her third project, a sign which she uses when she displays her sheep. She spun the natural colored black and white yarns from her Border Leicester sheep, then dyed some of the white yarn green for the border.
It took her about a year to hook this large project. She gets lots of comments on it, and it shows off the beautiful and useful wool she produces. If you would like to see this rug in person, Susie will be showing her sheep at this year's Black Sheep Gathering, June 22-24 at the Lane County Fairgrounds in Eugene, Oregon.
