Victorian Santa
3'x5'
Designed and hooked by Judy Taylor
This Victorian Father Christmas is mounted on wood.  In the Ninteenth Century, people would put up "dummy boards" when they were having a party or decorating for Christmas.  This one is hooked with wool yarn, and the beard is hooked with unspun locks of washed mohair, for a three-dimensional effect.  When the whole thing was hooked and hemmed, my hubby cut out a piece of wood in the shape of this Santa, with his trees, walking stick and patchwork bag full of toys.  He glued and pressed the whole thing together.  It now graces the holiday home of our very good friends.

You can purchase the pattern for this santa (or smaller versions if you'd rather not take on a "life sized" santa), or to order a finished santa in your choice of colors click here.

Merry Christmas everyone!
