Featured Rug, Box 'O Crayons
July 2011
Box 'O Crayons was designed to use up some yarn samples that I put together for my book, Joy of Hooking (With Yarn!). Once I finished hooking this rug, I had, as you can imagine, a bag of leftovers. Hmmmm...
Overdye!
Rather than make 80 tiny skeins, each needing to be cross-tied, I tied lots of bits together and wrapped them on my niddy-noddy, making 8 big, multi-colored skeins.
I split them into three piles, and threw them into dyepots. One was Mountain Aqua, one was Lime Green and one was Very Hot Pink. The dyes were weak, so I wouldn't obscure the colors, I just wanted to lightly overdye them, so the colors harmonized.

The skein at the bottom shows the cross-ties, which prevent the skeins from getting tangled in the dyeing process
Mtn. Aqua Lime Green Very Hot Pink
All the same yarn, but transformed to a softer, more muted color scheme. Fun!
But wait--- there's more! Check out next month's Featured Rug to see what I did with the leftovers from the Crown rug!!!
