This is the first rug I have ever done. I first purchased the rug pattern from Judy Taylor at the Puyallup Fair in 2003. After purchasing it I was afraid to start it because of the size. I thought I would do a few small projects first, which I did, and of course, then had the nerve to get going on it!
My mother had seen the pattern and thought she might want it for herself when I was done with it. I changed the outside border and put a little blurb on the bottom for her without her knowing. Needless to say, when she came to visit and saw the changes I was making to it, she wanted it even more because it is just her style.
Well, I was almost done with it when my mother found out that she had breast cancer and needed surgery. I immediately got it done and put it on the wall in her laundry room. Now she gets to look at it every time she is down there doing laundry or ironing. She just loves it...
The laundry room was probably the only room left that didn't have something in it that one of her children had made or bought for her. I guess youcould say every room in her house is full of love now because of the completion of this rug.
Mom is doing well so far, more surgeries are planned but we all trust she will be OK. Keep her in your prayers. (We certainly will Doreen!)
