                        Creating Heirlooms
Judy Taylor of Edeldal Farm hosts this overview of traditional rug hooking, beginning with a brief history and demonstration of this craft popular in America since Colonial times.  Starting with the very basics--shearing sheep for wool--and moving on to dyeing and spinning the fiber, the technique of hooking is clearly shown using various rug hooks and canvas.  Viewers watch in actual time as a sampler piece is put together (it's quickly finished!), and learn tips for care and cleaning.  Taylor is a good presenter, and the direction and other production values are excellent.  They make it look easy.  One caveat, Edeldal Farms sells wool, patterns, hooks and other tools necessary, and they do offer their services occasionally in the video.  Recommended, with reservations.
