This month's featured rug is one of many fabulous works of art by Maya Sarada Kearn, "herbalist, artist, innkeeper and occasional writer" (according to her outstanding website: www.londonderryinn.com!).
In between running her unique inn, serving vegetarian meals, operating her giftshop, tending her menagerie, she still has time to paint, hook rugs, and write books!
This charming kitty, named "Heidi" because she is something of a "fraidycat," (as my kids would say) is the model for this pillow. Maya said she made it so she and her husband Chris could always be able to see Heidi, even when she is hiding. It is made with acrylic yarn on rug warp.
