Nick's Dream

Nick's Dream is dedicated to Nick, our Wire Hair Fox Terrier. Nick's love of life is my happiest memory of him. Nick was always up for an adventure and he made sure you laughed out loud every single day.
Nick loved the outdoors and his favorite job was being the official duck air traffic controller for the neighborhood. As soon as he heard ducks approaching he would run around at warp speed in the yard. When Nick could finally see the ducks flying overhead he would bark at them as if he was saying, "Wait for me, I want to come with you!" To be able to fly with the ducks was Nick's dream.
Soon after I started hooking Nick's Dream I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Hooking Nick's Dream and feeling Judy's beautiful yarn between my fingers helped calm my mind and spirit as I recovered from cancer surgery and while I went through radiation treatments.
This rug is for the love of Nick. How he dreamed of flying with the ducks.
If I listen carefully while the ducks fly overhead I can hear "quack, quack, bark, quack." Nick's dream did come true.
This design is a combination of capturing Nick's personality and an adaptation of a decorative plate. The yarn was handspun and hand-dyed by Judy Taylor.
